Not very long ago, women were always relegated to the background, never really assuming those lofty, man-dominated roles, both in society and in other fields of life.
But a new wave has blown, especially in the new century, as the role of women begin to assume new dimensions. Presidents of Nations such as Liberia and Germany are seemingly the biggest there could be. But there have still been those other areas where women have not really been given a go, such as in the religious circle.
In England, this has taken quite a pleasant turn for women.
More than two decades after the Church of England allowed women to become priests, Anglicans have consecrated their first woman bishop.
Her name is Libby Lane and she was consecrated today Jan. 26th. Women clergy pictured above taking pics at the ceremony at York Minster in York, northern England.
