Sir Alex Ferguson: “Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles.”
What a season it’s been so far.

Matchweek 4 Review
Unlike this same point last season, you can’t really predict who will be the champions come season end. Although Budget FC still lead the pack (with the added advantage of having a game in hand), they are followed closely by the 5 teams behind them. There is really no room for error as any slip up could cost them the title. They almost lost last weekend to Maracana FC , before coming up with a late equalizer which frustrated the Maracana players who felt they had done enough to win it. Some spectators who have watched Maracana play this season tip them to win the league if Budget slip up. And every game Budget plays henceforth will be like a cup final because every team is out to beat the champions.
After last weekend there was more movement in the table, and it is now clear that Goal Difference will play a big part this season. As it stands 3 teams in the top 6 are differentiated by goal difference. One team in particular has affected goal difference significantly – Underdogs. What a befitting name to the team who have shipped in goals by the dozen in some games.
As expected, games are becoming more and more unpredictable. Just like what happened last year, as the season progresses teams get better through the experience and fitness they gain, and as such those in the lower half of the table start picking up points against higher ranked opponents. No game personified this more than The Other Guys FC V Budget Warrirors FC – an Other Guys team who were considered by most as just another team making up the numbers, produced a stunning performance to beat the highly ranked Warriors. And the performance didn’t surprise the Other Guys manager, who regardless of his teams losses always maintained they could compete with the best in the league.

Matchweek 5 Preview
Potential dark horses Hushpuppi FC (formerly known as “Their Real Daddy FC”) come up against league leaders Budget FC in the game to watch on matchday 12. Hushpuppi currently sit fourth with a game in hand, making them one of the challengers for the league title. The result of this game depends on the mentality of the Hushpuppi team that turn up on the day, and the mere fact that they are playing the champions might be enough motivation for them to really cause an upset.
Top game for matchday 13 has to be Maracana FC V Budget Warriors FC. Both teams need a win to keep title hopes alive. The momentum is with Maracana FC who as debutants in the league are yet to lose a game. Budget Warriors will be short of confidence after they comprehensively lost two consecutive games, with their attack only putting up 5 goals in both games. Their manager took action by bringing in more players during the transfer window.
Matchday 14 will see TNT FC play against fellow league veterans Capital City Eagles. Both teams will go into the match off the back of good wins. TNT produced a performance like those of last season with a dogged victory over Bucklers FC. The Eagles finally took flight in a classy victory over the FA FC, but it will be left to be seen if they can push on for a strong end to the season in this dicey game on Sunday.
Teams have been active during the transfer window, bringing in reinforcements to help them end the season on a high. Another positive development for fans who will be treated to even more ‘edge of your seat’ games!
47 games to go.
1 champion to be crowned.
Welcome to the 2nd half of #CAPITALLEAGUE2017
